A Stretched Mind

Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "Man's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions."

I feel like this trip to the USA has already stretched my mind, heart & spirit so much and I am trusting they will never return to their original dimensions! A friend of mine sent me a text the other day, asking me if I was enjoying the "open road" since we have stepped off the NCMI apo team. Initially I found the question quite amusing, however as it has sunk in to my thick skull, I have realised just how accurate that question was! It made me reflect on what is opposite to an open road? Small village, little town, stop streets, traffic lights, circles etc. Lots of conjestion, getting lost down dead end streets. The open road takes you places, moves you along, it is OPEN, wide, fast moving!

When you get stuck in a small town mindset, it is not easy to travel the open road!

Coming to Exponential Church Planting Conference is like entering a 10 lane highway with everyone traveling at seemingly break neck speeds, certainly much faster than me. I can't help feel, like I took an off ramp into a small town, got stuck in the small town thinking, the small town faith, the small town dreams, but now I am merging with many who are moving forcefully into the promises of God with an urgency and a passion I have longed to experience.

My co-pilot on this trip, Michael, he is jumping up and down like a cat on a hot tin roof! He is so excited, popping with ideas and it seems being stretched beyond anything I have seen before!

It reminds me of that quote of someone, People and rubber bands have one thing in common, they both need to be stretched to be effective!"
