A Letter to Urban Life

Dear Urban Life Church

Urban Life church is going through remarkable times! I believe that we will look back sometime in the future and comment about how “unparalleled” these times were. His-Story making times!

I am now Twittering!

Yes, can you believe it!!!

While here in the USA, I have been converted! I have decided to make the plunge and dive into social networking!

The reason? To help people find their way back to God and grow in their relationship with Him. Well thats the ideal, I am going to give it a good try!

So, who else out there is twittering? Lets join together and get God's dealing in us out there to help others!

Join me!

I want to do Church in a way that has never been done before!

A challenge was given yesterday at the conference by Craig Groeschel for us to do church in a way that has never been done before! In the 48 years that I have been going to church, it has changed somewhat, but on some reflection not much! It seems that the pace of change is beginning to increase at a very rapid rate, especially in the world!

A Stretched Mind

Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "Man's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions."

How do you keep your people dreaming?

I am sitting in one of my favourite coffee shops, Starbucks all the way over in Washington DC Mike Honeywell and I are on the way to a church planting conference in Orlando, Florida tomorrow. On the way we decided to stop over and attend a few churches in Washington to see what we could learn!

Bucket List

The amazing feeling of opening the throttle of a 1200 Harley Davidison up a curvey Long Tom Pass was the fulfillment of one of my bucket list items. I have long wanted to ride a Harley around the beautiful roads of Mpumalanga. It had been part of my "Bucket List" that was reignited after watching the movies Bucket List and Wild Hogs.

IGNITE 2009 - Don't count the numbers on the wrong side!

While on holiday, I was contemplating the upcoming Ignite 2009 which took pace over Easter weekend, and the Lord said to me, "Be careful not to count the numbers on the wrong side!" I realised that God was saying, not to count how many would attend Ignite, but how many would accept Christ as their Saviour because of Ignite.

Wel the numbers were something like this

About 120 registered

900 people were approached and spoken to all over Joburg and Centurion

170 people were born again! Praise the Lord!!!!

The Rhythm of the Christian Life - William Barclay

I came across these statements of William Barclay in his commentary of Mark

The rhythm of the Christian life is the alternate meeting with God in the secret place and serving men in the market place.

The Christian life is a continuous going into the presence of God from the presence of men and coming out into the presence of men from the presence of God. It like the rhythm of sleep and work. We cannot work unless we have our time of rest; and sleep will not come unless we have worked until we are tired.
