The amazing feeling of opening the throttle of a 1200 Harley Davidison up a curvey Long Tom Pass was the fulfillment of one of my bucket list items. I have long wanted to ride a Harley around the beautiful roads of Mpumalanga. It had been part of my "Bucket List" that was reignited after watching the movies Bucket List and Wild Hogs.
The real reason for the occasion was to spend time with a pastor friend who is an avid biker and encouraged and helped me fulfil one more of my dreams. Generously and amazingly David Weggerly offered me his Harley to use for the few days experience and what and experience it was! Numb bums, sore shoulders, necks and arms, but of course, always worth it! The long open roads become very boring but the calculated curves of the Long Tom pass was exilirating to say the least! The throaty growl of the 1200 engin beneath you, urges you on and on, fater and faster, lower and lower around the corners and the adrenalin pumps within!
My kids said good bye with the instructions of, No cell phones, not watches and skinny dipping in every town! Well sadly that was not to be, however we did get very wet when we drove through drizzly rain from White River to Hazyview and then spent the rest of the day drying and thawing out!
No, I am not going to buy a Mid-Life-Crises-Machine! As much as I loved riding a Harley, it was a Bucket list item that I would do again in a flash!

Hey Craig

Sounds like you had awesome fun. Dave came off his bike yesterday doing 120 on the highway! He's alright though, walking around with no broken bones. Lost a bit of skin on his forearm and had to get his elbow stitched up but his fine.

Keep well
