A Place of our Own - History of Covenant Life continued

Then‚ God spoke, "Prepare to move!" What! Why?! We were very comfortable at Crowthorne Shopping centre and we were not looking to move. God confirmed this word and we had to obey!

"As I was driving past 63 Main Road in Crowthorne, I noticed that a ‚ "FOR SALE" sign had been raised! I had been aware of this property as I had passed it many times before. It had been a chop shop, a chicken farm, mushroom farm and a pig farm. You name it, it had been farmed there. It was overgrown and squatters were living on it- an awful mess! I made an appointment to meet the agent. On asking the agent how much the owner wanted for the property. I was told, ‚"1 .2 million rand!" At that I ran away. In my mind there was no way that a church of our size could afford this!A few days later, as I was praying, the Lord spoke into my heart - "Why did you run away? I said to the Lord. "We can't afford 1.2 million rand!" His reply to me was, "You are right, and don't you ever forget it. You can't but I can!" And so began a journey that I am really glad we took‚¶ God spoke to the other elders too. He gave us mighty promises, that this was the land that God had given us, and that we were to take hold of it by faith - cross over the Jordan and take our inheritance. God certainly opened the door for us! We found favour with the owner and negotiated the price to 1 million with a deposit of R200 000. We were all excited till we realised that we still had to come up with the deposit. After taking up an offering (at the most in-opportune time- first week in December when most were on holiday) we saw that God had provided us with more then enough money. I could not contain my tears- God had done an amazing thing and a whole new season had begun! - Craig Clark (Lead Elder)

So begun the GREAT MOVE! We could not just rush onto the property in one week ‚ we needed to tame the bush-veld first and the buildings made habitable. After a month of Saturday work parties we stomped the path ‚David Livingston Style and rebuilt the ruins. The pig-farm-chop-shop was transformed into a dwelling place for His people!

Since moving we have seen many of the dreams and visions God has promised begin to take shape. This has only been the start of our journey - we can see the wonderful tapestry of God's amazing workings in Covenant Life. A picture that has been woven by our gracious God, creating beauty from our mistakes, wonders from our faith and miracles from our obedience. We press on towards our future.¶
