In our microwave society most, if not all of us, get attracted and drawn into the glitz and glamour of certain shops selling “genuine fake” replicas at a fraction of the price of the real product or service.

More than often we realize our mistake, and money wasted, when the “genuine fake” stops delivering as expected.

This rang true in the early church when those witnessing the Holy Spirit’s power through Paul, tried to replicate that by being “genuine fake”

Acts 19 v 13-15

13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?”

Being a Christian is nothing that can be faked.

It is more than talking “Christianese”, or completing religious ceremonies or deeds.

It is a relationship with God.

It is a converted, born-again heart that is sincerely seeking God, His way, and not our own way.

As we embark on a journey to be Christ centered and impact our city like the church of Acts, what “genuine fake “religious practices and world-views are we hanging onto?

What are we pretending to be or believe?

How do or could these result in unsaved people, or even demons, saying to us “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” (Acts 19:15)

As we make it easy for people to turn to Christ let’s identify our “genuine fake “, root it out and submit to the Holy Spirit changing us from the inside.

By doing so we can be sure that as we go out to reach and witness to the unsaved, Christ’s love would be recognized within us.

Lovely message, challenging, not by our own directed strength, but by the directed strenghth of the Holy Spirit in us and through us!

Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. (Zechariah 4:6 NLT)

    Have you been baptised?

Paul asked, “Then what was the meaning of your baptism?” They responded, “It meant that we would follow John’s teaching.” Paul said, “John’s baptism was for those who were turning from their sins, and he taught you to believe in and follow the one who was coming after him: Jesus the Anointed One.” When they understood this, they were baptized into the authority of Jesus, the Anointed One. And when Paul laid his hands on each of the twelve, the Holy Spirit manifested and they immediately spoke in tongues and prophesied. (Acts 19:3‭-‬7 TPT)

When we are baptised fully into the authority of Jesus, understanding that the Holy Spirit who came upon us and in us when we accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, becomes known to us and transforms us from the inside out, to fulfill the perfect plans and purposed of God for our lives, we are unstoppable!

Do not delay, if you believe Jesus is the Son of God, be baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
